China has provided government subsidies to encourage couples to have children.
According to ISNA, China’s national lawmakers officially approved the three-child policy in August, which is an important policy change in addressing the country’s population crisis.
The revised Population and Family Planning Law allows Chinese couples to have three children because couples are reluctant to have more children due to the cost of living.
Chinese domestic media announced: Regions including Beijing, Sichuan, and Jiangxi have adopted supportive measures that emphasize increased leave for couples, such as offering parental leave, extending maternity and marital leave, and increasing paternity leave.
The official of the National Health Commission of China stated that the government should play a leading role in providing for the cost of having children, and called for more support measures in kindergarten services, childbearing subsidies and tax reduction.
The amendment to the Population and Family Planning Law allows couples to have three children and provides for protective measures. Related restrictive measures, including fines for couples who violated the law and wanted more children, were also lifted.
