The head of the Fata Naja Police Cybercrime Detection and Prevention Center warned his compatriots against the misuse of their parents’ smartphones by referring to the increasing number of cyber children.
According to ISNA, Second Lieutenant Ali Mohammad Rajabi stated that in recent years, there has been a significant increase in children’s use of the internet and the number of “cyber kids.” The amount of time children spend online is steadily rising. He noted that cyberspace and the internet offer numerous benefits for children, aiding their learning, growth, and development. However, he emphasized the importance of parental awareness to ensure not only proper supervision of their children’s internet usage but also to teach them the correct way to use it. This is because improper use of the internet and cyberspace can lead to irreparable consequences.
Rajabi explained that smartphones are one of the primary means through which children access the internet and cyberspace. Since many children do not own personal tablets or smartphones, they often use their parents’ phones. This, he noted, poses additional risks for both children and parents, given the presence of various applications, messaging platforms, and sensitive information on adults’ devices, thereby expanding the potential for harm.
