Four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles has been named Time Magazine’s Sportswoman of the Year.

According to Isna and quoted by Tass news agency, Simone Biles, winner of four Olympic gold medals, won the award for the best athlete of the year in Time magazine.

At the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, she won silver in the team event in artistic gymnastics and bronze in the balance beam exercise, but missed four events due to her severe mental state and spatial orientation problems.

In October, Biles, Alexandra Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Margaret Nichols petitioned the US Congress to remove the head of the country’s National Olympic and Paralympic Committee (NOC) over the Larry Nassar scandal. Nassar was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison for sexually assaulting female athletes. He himself admitted to harassment and sexual acts against 11 gymnasts and more than 150 women testified against him.

According to ISNA, Biles has been competing since 2007 and in 2011 he was among the American junior professional gymnasts. In that year, he takes third place at the national level and becomes the American champion in 2012.
